Edinburgh Cares is a grassroots, volunteer-led humanitarian UK registered charity (SC046662). We were initially set up in September 2015 in response to the Syrian war crisis but we aim to assist wherever there is a need.
Since September 2015 we have delivered aid to Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece, Syria and Turkey. We provide urgent help wherever it is needed most. Our recent developments include 2 widow and orphans centres on the Syrian-Turkish borders. Where we provide free boarding and food for all widows and orphans.
We operate a 100 percent donations policy. All of your donations are spent solely on what you donated for—to help the world’s neediest people.
When we go on aid missions, our volunteers pay their own travel costs. If we need donations to help cover transport of aid items, including containers and shipping, then we explicitly mention this in our appeal.
We make all project details and overall accounts information available online to ensure complete transparency.
Our philosophy is simple: helping humanity and spreading hope. Without hope, humanity is lost. Caring and kindness give us hope in humanity and hope for humanity. So our goal is to help those who need it, showing kindness to the world’s most needy in order to spread hope for our future.
The three key aspects of our philosophy are:
Since September of 2015, we have distributed aid on seven aid missions, including Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece (Samos) and Turkey. Between September and December 2015 we delivered more than 100 tonnes of aid in conjunction with our partners, and our cash aid turnover was over £70,000.
One of our key features is that we take both volunteers and donors on aid missions, which allows them to be involved in the delivery of vital aid.
