About Us

Previously Edinburgh Cares,  we’ve changed our name to World Care Foundation.

We’re pleased to announce that as World Care Foundation has grown over the last 15 months, we’ve expanded beyond Edinburgh. We felt it was the right time to choose a name more fitting to our more international status.

We’ll be updating the website shortly.

World Care Foundation is a grassroots, volunteer-led humanitarian UK registered charity (SC046662). We were initially set up in September 2015 in response to the Syrian war crisis but we aim to assist wherever there is a need.

Since September 2015 we have delivered aid to Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey. We provide urgent help wherever it is needed most. Our recent developments include 2 widow and orphans centres on the Syrian-Turkish borders. Where we provide free boarding and food for all widows and orphans.

100 percent donation policy

We operate a 100 percent donations policy. All of your donations are spent solely on what you donated for—to help the world’s neediest people.

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: helping humanity and spreading hope. Without hope, humanity is lost. Caring and kindness give us hope in humanity and hope for humanity. So our goal is to help those who need it, showing kindness to the world’s most needy in order to spread hope for our future.

The three key aspects of our philosophy are:

  • Empowerment and sustainability. We encourage our donors and volunteers to be part of our aid missions. As a volunteer, you can help deliver the aid you provided. This fosters long-term commitments, empowerment and confidence in our aid delivery systems, as well as nurtures sustainable support from our community.
  • 100 percent donations. Our work is 100 percent donations based, every pound you donate goes directly to helping those who need it. Where we need donations for delivery of aid, such as containers and transport costs, we explicitly mention this.
  • Our volunteers oversee and take part in the actual delivery of aid, as well as work in the field, even in the event that we partner with other organisations. The satisfaction of helping the needy directly with your own hands is a feeling that you won’t ever forget.

Our aid missions

Since September of 2015, we have distributed aid on seven aid missions, including Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece (Samos) and Turkey. Between September and December 2015 we delivered more than 100 tonnes of aid in conjunction with our partners, and our cash aid turnover was over £70,000.

One of our key features is that we take both volunteers and donors on aid missions, which allows them to be involved in the delivery of vital aid.
